 ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND RECEIVES AND AUGMENTS IGP’S MONITORING UNIT OPERATIVES ON ENFORCEMENT OF POLICE PERSONNEL WITHDRAWAL FROM VIP ESCORT DUTIES IN THE STATE The Anambra State Police Command today 8th December 2025 formally received operatives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP)’s Monitoring Unit deployed to the state to ensure full implementation of the IGP’s directive on the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP escort and guard duties. The Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting the IGP’s reform efforts targeted at enhancing professionalism, discipline, and optimal deployment of police manpower nationwide. The CP noted that the withdrawal of these officers will help to strengthen public policing, improve response capacity, and ensure that more personnel are available for core policing duties across the state.  South Carolina State University placed on lockdown following reported dorm shooting

South Carolina State University went on lockdown Saturday following a reported shooting at a residence hall. The university said shots were fired at Hugine Suites, and officials urged students in the dorm to remain in place while others were instructed to stay away or return to their own residence halls. Some individuals on campus were asked to leave entirely.

No information has been released regarding injuries. The State Law Enforcement Division has been called in to investigate the incident. As a precaution, the university also canceled a homecoming concert that had been scheduled for Saturday night. U.S. Senator Tim Scott said he was closely monitoring the situation and offered prayers for the safety of everyone on campus. South Carolina State University, located in Orangeburg, serves approximately 2,900 students.
