 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. ANAMBRA STATE HOUSE ASSEMBLY PASSES ANTI-CORRUPTION COMMISSION BILL INTO LAW.(PHOTO).


 Anambra State House Assembly Passes Anti-Corruption Commission Bill into Law.


The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a bill seeking to establish the Anambra State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes and Anti-Corruption Commission into law.


The bill was passed during plenary on Thursday following the adoption of a resolution after lawmakers considered amendments made at the Committee of the Whole stage.


The Majority Leader of the House, Ikenna Ofodeme, moved the motion for the third reading of the bill, which was seconded by the Deputy Minority Leader, Nobel Igwe.


Presiding over the session, the Speaker of the House, Somtochukwu Udeze, commended the joint committee for its diligence and thorough work in fine-tuning the bill ahead of its passage.


The Speaker thereafter put the bill to a voice vote, which received unanimous approval from the lawmakers.


Udeze announced that the law establishing the Anambra State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes and Anti-Corruption Commission will officially come into effect on February 17.
