Protecting Critical Assets : Securing Kaduna

The Honourable Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, (Dr.) Sule Shu’aibu, SAN, has been briefed by a multi-agency committee on the disturbing cases of vandalism and sabotage of galvanized iron structures beneath River Kaduna - infrastructure classified as critical national and state assets.

Following an on-site inspection, the committee revealed the existence of an organized cartel actively damaging these facilities, warning that urgent government intervention is required to prevent a possible collapse with far-reaching consequences for public safety, transportation, and the environment.

Dr. Shu’aibu commended the committee for its diligence and proactive investigation. He reaffirmed the Kaduna State Government’s zero-tolerance stance on vandalism, recalling the swift intervention by the government after a distress call over the attempted vandalization of the new Rabbah Road bridge.

The Commissioner assured the committee of the Ministry’s full support and reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting public infrastructure and holding perpetrators accountable.

The committee comprises representatives of the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA) and the Kaduna State Transport Regulatory Authority (KADSTRA), alongside officers from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Services (DSS), and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

The committee was constituted following a collaborative engagement initiated by the Kaduna State Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, to develop sustainable solutions to infrastructure vandalism across the state.

This coordinated effort underscores the Kaduna State Government’s resolve to safeguard critical assets, strengthen security collaboration, and ensure the safety, mobility, and well-being of the people of Kaduna State.
