                         According to sources,a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has dismissed a suit seeking to stop the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos,Akinwunmi Ambode from contesting the April 11 poll.The presiding Judge Justice Mohammed Yunusa declared that the plaintiffs had no Locus standi to institute the legal action.The Judge also held that the plaintiffs failed to establish any reasonable cause of action to sustain their prayers.The plaintiffs identified as Olurufemi Oluwatosin and Dada Joseph,who are members of the APC,had approached the court seeking an order to restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission from allowing APC to field any candidate for the coming Saturday Governorship election in Lagos state.In the suit filed by their lawyer,Samuel Adeniyi,the plaintiffs were challenging their alleged disenfranchisement in the party primary that produced Ambode in De...

                            Two Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC,attached to Oredo and Orhiomwon Local Government Areas of Edo state  over their alleged involvement in the disappearance of result sheets provided for elections in those areas on the 28 of March Presidential and National Assembly elections.The state Resident Electoral Commissioner {REC} Barrister Mike Igini,who announced this during a meeting with the leaders of All Progressive Congress {APC} and the People Democratic Party {PDP} in the state.He also disclosed  that other officers of the Commission were being interrogated over alleged malpractices in the last elections,adding that those involved may face prosecution.According to him,areas where elections are rescheduled to hold includes the entire Orhiomwon Local Government Areas,six wards in Uhumwonde,some wards and units in Ikpoba Okhai,Ovia North East,Ovia South west and Oredo ...

               A white police officer in South Carolina has been charged with the murder of a 50 year old black man,who was shot eight times in the back as he ran away.North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey announced the charges at a hastily called news conference in which he said city Patrolman Michael Thomas Slager made a bad decision.The shooting which began as a traffic stop,occured as Americans grapple with issues of trust between law enforcement and minority communities after a series of deaths of un-named blackmen at the hands of police.They include the deaths of Michael Brown in Ferguson,Missouri,and Eric Gamer on Staten Island,New York.Both sparked protests nationwide.In the Charleston case,authorities said the victim,50 year old Walter Lamer Scott,was shot after the officer had already hit him with a stun gun.A video of the shooting released to news media outlets shows the officer firing several times at the man's back while he's running aw...

                      The press statement came in form of a letter and signed by Mrs Augusta C. Ogakwu the Secretary to the Commission {INEC}.The press statement addressed the issues raised by Nigerians if the card readers will be used after the presidential election for all other upcoming elections.The press statement also addressed the fact that in the case the card readers is not working,elections will be shifted to the next day.The last paragraph in the press statement says ''The Commission has reviewed the operation of the Card Reader in the 28th March Elections,identified the challenges and has taken adequate measures to address them''.
