                   Today friday,two persons were injured at the General Aviation Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport,Lagos when the gun carried by a man identified as an orderly to a senator accidentally discharged on him and a woman as he tried to remove the magazine.The orderly who was to travel on Arik Air and wanted to lodge his gun,which is a standard practice on air travel,but the gun released a bullet that splinted and hit both the man and woman on the leg as he bent down to pull the magazine out of the gun.According to The Nation,the two people were taken to hospital at the airport.Source hinted that they trekked out of the terminal to the vehicle that took them to the hospital.The General Manager,Public Affairs of FAAN,Mr. Yakubu Dati,who confirmed the incident,said what happened is an accident and added that stowing the gun away with its magazine is standard procedure.He said guns are not taken on-board aircraft as standar...

                              The president of Gambia Yahya Jammeh said anyone that marries a girl aged below 18 years would be jailed for up to 20 years.The president while speaking at the Eid ul-fitr celebrations at the end of Ramadan said that parents and imams who perform the ceremonies would also face prison.According to the UN children's agency {UNICE},around 46% of girls in Gambia get married before reaching 18years.Announcing the ban and jail terms,Mr Jammeh said ''If you want to know whether what i am saying is true or not,try it tomorrow and see''.One more photo below.

                          Today wednesday,Argentina and Barcelona footballer Lionel Messi has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for tax fraud.According to BBC,his father,Jorge Messi,was also given a jail term for defrauding Spain of £3.5 million {$4.5m} between 2007 and 2009.They are also facing millions of euros in fines for using tax havens in Belize and Uruguay to conceal earnings from image rights.However,neither of them is expected to serve time in jail.Under the Spanish system,prison terms of under two years can be served under probation.The footballer and his father were found guilty of three counts of tax  fraud in wednesday's ruling by the court in Barcelona.As well as the jail terms,Messi was fined about £2m and his father £1.5m.They made a voluntary £5m ''corrective payment'',equal to the alleged unpaid tax plus interest,in August 2013.The sentence can be be appealed against via the Spanish Supreme cour...

                           The news i just received is that South African Paralympian Oscar Pistorus has today wednesday been sentenced to six years in prison for the 2013 murder of his girlfriend Reeva Stenkamp.The state and a large section of the public had called for the 29 year old to be handed no less than the minimum 15 year term as prescribed by the law,saying he had shown no remorse for the killing.The athlete was found guilty of murdering Steenkamp by an appeals court last December.He has initially received a five year sentence for manslaughter in 2014,a ruling dismissed by women's groups as too lenient.Though after today's sentence alot of people went on social media and started saying that Oscar Pistorus deserves more than 6 years.One more photo below.
