  The Lagos State Ministry of Justice, in collaboration with the State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences Unit, on Monday, supervised the public auction of 83 forfeited vehicles on the orders of the Lagos State Special Offences Mobile Court for the violation of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law 2018. Speaking to journalists at the Auction, held at the premises of the State Taskforce in Alausa, Ikeja, in accordance with the forfeiture order of the Court, the Coordinator, Lagos State Special Offences Mobile Court, Mrs. Arinola Ogbara said the process was transparent. She revealed that some vehicle owners, whose cars were among those impounded, have been told to pay a fine to retrieve their cars based on the strength of evidence they presented at the Mobile Court.   In continuation of the Multimodal Master Plan in the transportation sector, the Yaba Overpass will be closed temporarily for three weeks from Tuesday 9th to Tuesday, 23rd February, 2021. According to a statement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, the lane closure is necessary to commence soil testing along Muritala Mohammed Way, Ojuelegba Road, and Tejuosho as part of the Traffic Management Plan to actualise the LRMT Red Line Phase 1, Oyingbo to Agbado. The Commissioner, therefore, advised motorists to utilise the main carriageway during the temporary closure, assuring that the State Traffic Management personnel will be available to direct traffic for minimal inconvenience to road users.   The Northern States Governors Forum has said the current system of herding conducted mainly through open grazing is no longer sustainable in view of growing urbanization and population of the country. The forum reached this conclusion during its emergency meeting held virtually to discuss issues affecting the region and the nation in general and presided over by its Chairman and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong. It added that it will aggressively sensitise herdsmen on the need to adopt new methods of herding by ranching or other acceptable modern methods. The governors, therefore, appealed to the Federal Government to support states with grants to directly undertake pilot projects of modern livestock production that will serve as springboard and evidence for breaking resistance to the full implementation of new methods of livestock production.
