 Oladips’ alleged death elicits mixed reactions Music lovers and other Nigerians were thrown into mourning when it was announced that a rapper and singer, Oladipupo Oladimeji, aka Oladips, had passed away at the age of 28 on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. A statement by his management read, “We are saddened to inform the general public that Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, aka Oladips, has passed away on November 14 Tuesday evening at exactly 10:14pm. We are still in shock as we speak. For over two years, he has kept (sic) his battles within himself. His body is now with his family, and funeral services will be announced as soon as it is concluded (sic). The family asked that we respect their privacy in this trying time. #AWAYFestival: Thrills as Davido shuts down Atlanta Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, shut down the State Farm Arena in Atlanta with his highly-anticipated event Are We African Yet? Festival (A.W.A.Y Festival). The show, which was held on Saturday, November 18th, 2023, saw the likes of Nigerian celebrities and fans traveling all the way to Atlanta, Georgia for the show. Appeal Court sacks Plateau Governor, Mutfwang The Abuja division of the Court of Appeal on Sunday sacked Plateau State Governor, Mutfwang Manasseh of the Peoples Demoocratic Party, PDP. It ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to recognise Nentawe Goshwe of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the validly elected governor in the March 18 governorship election. Justice Elfrieda Williams-Dawodu, who led a three-man panel while delivering the lead judgment, cited section 177 of the Constitution, noting that Manasseh was not a validly sponsored candidate by the PDP during the election. The panel held that the party violated the court order that a valid Congress be conducted in the 17 local government areas of that state, by conducting Congress in only 5 local government areas of the state, and as such is a nullity. Nigerian chef Tope Maggie ‘breaks’ Irish chef’s cooking record Nigerian chef, Temitope Adebayo, also known as Tope Maggie, has surpassed the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, surpassing Irish chef, Alan Fisher’s 119-hour and 57-minute record. Chef Maggie concluded a 200-hour cook-a-thon in the early hours of Saturday, November 18. This was announced in a video posted on the Oyo Affairs X page.
