While James Malady was recently being investigated for another crime, detectives found the shocking video of the incident in the ambulance still on his phone. He kept the video for 3 years.  Atiku Should Stay Away From Contesting Elections, Says Fayose A former governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose has advised the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to move on from contesting elections in the country.  Obio/Akpor LG Chairman Replaces Wike’s Name On Admin Block With Obi Wali The name of former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has been removed from the administrative block of the Obio/Akpor Local Government Council. Wike was a former chairman of the council. The building has now been renamed in honour of the late Senator Dr. Obi Wali, a prominent Ikwerre leader, politician, and renowned minority rights advocate. The renaming followed a directive by the new Chairman of the Council, Chijioke Ihunwo, after he successfully took over the council secretariat on October 7 when crisis rocked some council secretariats in Rivers State.  ‘Double wahala for dead body’ — Enugu Govt never imposed new mortuary tax, says Revenue Board The Enugu State Government has denied an upward review of mortuary tax to N40,000 (Forty Thousand Naira) per day as broadcast by some bloggers and unprofessional media houses, saying that it remained N40 (Forty Naira) per night for unclaimed dead bodies as originally specified in Section 34 of the Birth, Deaths, and Burial Law Cap 15 Revised Laws of Enugu State 2004. The government explained that the memo, which was re- issued in 2023, but doctored by unscrupulous elements to read 17th September 2024, was aimed at saving bereaved families from extortion and exploitation by hospitals and tax agents, who charge way higher than N40 (Forty Naira) stipulated by the law made in 2004 to discourage bereaved families from the practice of congesting the mortuaries with their dead for long.  APC warns Ndume against attacking Tinubu The ruling All Progressives Congress advised the former Chief Whip of the Senate, Ali Ndume, to reach President Bola Tinubu privately with his advice instead of criticising the government’s policies or actions publicly. The National Publicity Director of the APC, Bala Ibrahim, who spoke on Sunday, said as much as everybody had a right to air their opinion in a democracy, bigwigs like Ndume should seek to weigh their words before going public. Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, had called on the President to tackle the hardship suffered by citizens before it was too late.  Sports minister demands CAF’s action on Super Eagles’ Libya mistreatment The Minister of Sports, John Enoh, has condemned the Libyan authorities’ treatment of the Super Eagles team ahead of its second leg match slated for Tuesday in the country. The Nigerian contingent, who were billed to land in Benghazi for the second leg of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya, scheduled for Tuesday, was unexpectedly diverted mid-flight to Al Abraq, a small airport typically reserved for hajj operations. The unexpected diversion left the players and officials stranded without any assistance from the Libyan Football Federation, which failed to provide transportation.   Super Eagles set to leave Libya after airport delay The Super Eagles players and officials are set to leave Libya after enduring over 14 hours of maltreatment from the host country on Sunday. This development was confirmed by the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa via her X handle. She wrote, “Super Eagles team now boarding . Journey mercies to all of them.” A Super Eagles player, Bruno Onyemaechi, also confirmed the team will soon leave for Nigeria. He wrote, “Me and Libya, I don wash my hands commot. Nothing concerns me and una again.
