 Western Marine Customs Hands Over 4,973 Loaves of Cannabis, Suspects to NDLEA The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Western Marine Command, has formally handed over 4,973 loaves of Cannabis Sativa and two suspects to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.  Similarly, the Command also handed over 195 bottles of 300ml codeine to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). According to the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Paul Bamisaiye, the handover at the command on Wednesday, 26 February 2025, resulted from the command's recent operations.  Death toll from blasts in eastern DR Congo rises to 16 The death toll from two explosions in Bukavu in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has risen to 16, government spokesman Patrick Muyaya said late Friday. The explosions occurred Thursday at the heart of Bukavu shortly after a political rally in support of the M23 rebels. The government and M23 accused each other of perpetrating the blasts, Xinhua reported. M23 claims control over several territories in eastern DRC, including Bukavu and Goma, the provincial capitals of South Kivu and North Kivu. On Friday, M23 appointed a "governor" of South Kivu, after establishing a parallel administration in North Kivu in mid-February.  Olukoyede Charges Businesses, Professionals in Southwest on Money Laundering    The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede has charged Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professionals, DNFBPs to strictly comply with the provisions of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, do due diligence on their customers and ensure that they report suspicious transactions, especially of Politically Exposed Persons, PEPs to the Commission.   He gave the charge at a one-day workshop for sensitization of DNFBPs, with the theme: "Awareness to Action: Mobilizing DNFBPs for Compliance", which was held in Lagos, on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
