Canada Votes Amid US Tensions as Carney, Poilievre Battle for Power Canadians head to the polls today to elect a new government, with rising tensions over US President Donald Trump’s trade policies dominating the campaign. Liberal Prime Minister Mark Carney, who replaced Justin Trudeau last month, faces a tough challenge from Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre. Once trailing by 20 points, the Liberals surged ahead after Trump’s threats triggered a voter backlash. Carney, a former central bank chief in Canada and Britain, has pitched himself as the steady hand needed to confront US pressures, warning that “America wants to break us, so they can own us.” Poilievre, focusing on domestic issues like inflation and housing, accused Carney of offering more of the same Liberal leadership that, he says, weakened Canada’s resilience. Final polls show a tight race, with the Liberals slightly ahead. Nearly 29 million Canadians are eligible to vote for 343 parliamentary seats, with 172 neede...

2027: Kenneth Okonkwo Warns Atiku, Obi – No Single Candidate Can Defeat Tinubu Without Coalition Kenneth Okonkwo, former presidential spokesperson for the Labour Party, has declared that no single opposition candidate can defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election without forming a coalition. Speaking amid a wave of defections by political heavyweights to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Okonkwo emphasized that a united opposition is the only path to challenging Tinubu’s re-election. Okonkwo expressed confidence that a coalition would emerge, though he could not specify its leadership. “Moving to 2027, I know that there will be a coalition. Whether it is going to be between Peter Obi and Atiku, I don’t know, but there will be a coalition,” he said. “That will be the only choice the opposition has to make any impact.” He warned that without such an alliance, Tinubu would secure victory “outrightly” and “just walk into” another term.  Salihu Lukman Loses Faith in Tinubu’s Leadership, Urges Strong Opposition Coalition Salihu Lukman, a former National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has publicly expressed his disillusionment with President Bola Tinubu, stating he no longer believes the President can deliver significant achievements before his term ends in May 2027. In a candid statement, Lukman described Tinubu’s leadership as a departure from the progressive ideals he once associated with the President’s tenure as Lagos State Governor from 1999 to 2007. “For you to expect something very wonderful to happen before May 2027, you are a dreamer. I wish you luck, but if it happens, it will be a pleasant surprise,” Lukman said. He revealed that he withdrew his support for Tinubu in July 2024 after waiting for the President to correct the missteps of his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari. Instead, Lukman argued, Tinubu’s governance has been so underwhelming that it has inadvertently cast Buhari as a “...

Social Media And Insults Is Like 5 And 6 -Shehu Sani  “Peter Obi’s claim about young people being paid to insult others on social media is not far away from the truth; but another side of the truth is that the same insults also come from the young supporters of the opposition. “Social media is not for the faint hearted. Its not a street for gentlemen. Social media and insults is like 5 and 6. If you say what the Government doesn’t like, you can be targeted. If you say what the opposition doesn’t like, you can be mobbed.  “We live in a hostile society, intolerant of contrary opinions or dissenting views.” -Senator Shehu Sani, April 2025
