  DEVELOPING STORY: Man Found Unconscious After Allegedly Throwing Children From Storey Building in Aba A man was reportedly found unconscious but still breathing after allegedly falling from a storey building at New Phase of Umuobe by Barracks, Opobo Road, Obignwa, Abia State. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, has caused panic among residents of the area. Eyewitnesses told Magic FM Aba that the man allegedly threw two of his children from the building before attempting to throw down his wife. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. The two children were reportedly rushed to a hospital for medical attention. As of the time of filing this report, Magic FM Aba could not independently confirm their condition or whether they survived the fall. The man, who sustained an injury to the head, was still lying in front of his house and had yet to receive assistance as of the time of this report.  Police Confirm Abduction Of Journalist In Kaduna The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the kidnapping of veteran photojournalist, Umar Usman, in Chikun Local Government Area of the state. The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Kaduna, noting that security operatives have begun efforts to rescue the victim. According to Hassan, Usman was abducted around 9:00 p.m. on Monday by suspected bandits at Danhonu II community in Millennium City, an incident that has heightened fear among residents. “We are doing everything possible to ensure his safe rescue,” the police spokesperson said. Usman, a retired staff member of Africa Independent Television, Kaduna Station, and a former employee of the Nigerian Television Authority in Kaduna, was reportedly taken from his residence during the attack.  TROOPS OF OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA FOILS ARMED ROBBERY ATTACK ALONG ABUJA–KADUNA HIGHWAY Troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army/ Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully foiled an armed robbery attack along the Abuja–Kaduna Highway, thereby preventing harm to commuters. The incident occurred today 6 January 2026, when troops on routine patrol received a distress call regarding an ongoing armed robbery attack at Nasarawan Doka. Upon receipt of the information, the troops immediately mobilised to the location and engaged the criminals, effectively neutralising the threat. During the encounter, one of the arrested suspects, Kabiru Zayyanu, who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was promptly evacuated to Doka General Hospital, where he received first aid.  BENUE WOMAN WHO GAVE BIRTH IN KIRIKIRI PRISON RETURNS HOME AFTER MONTHS IN CUSTODY  7th January, 2026    A Benue State indigene, Mary Onah, who gave birth while in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos, has regained her freedom and reunited with her family after spending several months in detention. Onah, from Oju Local Government Area of Benue State, was reportedly abandoned throughout her incarceration. Her employer allegedly absconded, while her husband and family were said to lack the financial capacity to pursue the case. She was said to have received no visits during her time in custody. Following her release, arrangements were made on Monday for her journey from Lagos to Benue State.  BENUE-LAGOS NIGHT JOURNEY TURNS TRAGIC AS BENUE LINKS BUS CRASHES IN OYO  7th January, 2026      A Benue Links bus travelling from Benue State to Lagos was involved in a serious road accident in Oyo State, leaving several passengers with varying degrees of injuries. An eyewitness account shared via WhatsApp by one of the passengers revealed that the driver allegedly fell asleep while driving, lost control of the vehicle, and rammed into a J5 bus along the route. The impact caused injuries to many passengers of the bus. Sources confirmed that all injured passengers were promptly evacuated and taken to a General Hospital in Oyo for medical attention. Members of the public, particularly families with loved ones who travelled from Benue to Lagos yesterday, have been advised to check on their relatives. Importantly, no life was lost in the accident, according to available reports. More photos below.

 POLICE FOILS ATTEMPTED ATTACK, RESCUES 76 CHILDREN, ARRESTS THREE SUSPECTS IN KADUNA The Nigeria Police Force has foiled an attempted attack and planned kidnapping of children in the Kasuwan Magani area of Kaduna State. On the 5th of January, 2026, at about 2000 hours, Kaduna State Police Command received credible intelligence that some suspected bandits were planning to attack and kidnap motorists conveying children through the area. Upon receipt of the intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Kasuwan Magani Division, was promptly mobilised with a team of police personnel to the area. On arrival, the police team engaged and successfully repelled the suspected attackers, leading to the rescue of seventy-six (76) children, comprising both males and females, aged between seven (7) and twenty (20) years.
