 Rebels to withdraw from key DR Congo town 'after US request' The M23 rebel group has said it would withdraw from the eastern DR Congo town of Uvira at the request of the US administration, which had criticised seizure of the town last week as a threat to mediation efforts. The rebels entered Uvira, on the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met with US President Donald Trump in Washington and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept." A report by a United Nations group of experts in July said Rwanda exercised command and control over the rebels. COTE D'IVOIRE WILL HOST AN ALL NIGHT CONCERT TRIBUTE,TOMORROW FOR LATE PAPA WEMBA.

                       According to sources,Cote d'Ivoire will host an all night concert tribute this week to Congolese rumba star Papa Wemba,who died after collapsing on stage during a festival in Abidjan.The festival organisers said a ''big artistic wake would be held from Wednesday evening to the larger than life musician known as the king of Congolese rumba who fused Cuban and African rhythms.More than 100 national and international singers and musicians will succeed each other on stage from 9pm until dawn''.FEMA said in a statement.Family members were also heading to Cote d'Ivoire to prepare to repatriate Papa Wemba's body to his homeland,where Culture minister Banza Makalay described his death as a great loss for music''.Papa Wemba,one of the biggest names in Africa music for the past 40 years,died after falling ill on sunday during a performance at the Urban Music Festival of Anoumabo {FEMUA}.The cause of Papa Wemba's death is not yet known,although he was said to have suffered health problems for some years and some witnesses said he looked unwell on sunday.More photos below.
