NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. As the death toll of Kenya 6 storey building collapse reaches 21,the aid workers said hopes were fading of finding more survivors in the rubble today.Police said they were questioning the owner of the six storey residential block that collapsed late on friday after days of heavy rain and floods,but no one had been charged.Residents and rescue workers have been sifting through piles of broken concrete at the site in the eastern Huruma suburb ever since,rescuing 135 people,according to the latest police figures.But conditions were getting more challenging.Red Cross official Anthony Mwangi said ''In conditions of no air,firt,no food,no water,it's very difficult for that person to stay alive''.Authorities had condemned the 198 room building and there has been no official explanation of why it remained occupied.More photos below.
