 A 28-year-old man allegedly set his girlfriend’s house on fire after she refused his marriage proposal in Anandpur village, Bhadrak district, Odisha. The accused, Jyoti Ranjan Das, a resident of Vidyadharpur village, has been on the run since the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, police said on Wednesday. According to the victim, Jyoti had been pressuring her to marry him and even threatened to leak private photos if she did not agree. She also accused him of issuing death threats and attempting to force her into meeting him multiple times. When she refused his advances, Jyoti allegedly resorted to arson, setting her house on fire. The blaze destroyed five sheds and reduced valuables worth Rs 15 lakh, including gold jewellery, furniture, food grains, and important documents, to ashes. EFCC,NCDMB TO COLLABORATE AGAINST LOCAL CONTENT INFRACTIONS IN OIL SECTOR.{PHOTOS}.

    The Acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu has expressed the readiness of the Commission to work closely with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, to check infractions militating against local content development in the Nigerian oil and gas sector.
He made the promise on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 while playing host to the management of the NCDMB led by its Executive Secretary, Simbi Wabote, at the new Head Office of the EFCC, Abuja.
Welcoming the visitors Magu said, "Our priority in EFCC is fighting corruption and we will not shy away from it. The Commission is ever ready to collaborate with any agency in fighting the war".
He added that, "We are willing to collaborate with NCDMB in every facet in order to protect the future of our children and generations to come" noting that, the EFCC was ready to assist the Board in any way it could as it had partnered a lot of government agencies such as INEC, Police and other law enforcement agencies.
The EFCC boss vowed not to leave any stone unturned in the efforts of the Commission to rid the country of corruption, stressing that, "no ministry, department or government agency will be left untouched especially the ones found wanting".
Earlier, Wabote congratulated the EFCC management over the successful completion and movement to its permanent site, while expressing delight to be the first to be hosted by the agency in the new edifice.
He described the role of the EFCC in the fight against corruption as on that is very "pivotal" in achieving government's agenda.
While applauding the EFCC for building a reputation for itself over the years, Wabote said, "for us as a board we are aligned with this fight considering our role as regulator in oil and gas sector where multi-billion dollar transactions are carried out every year"
In explaining the role of the board he said, "The NCDMB has used various means of approach to deal with infractions with its vision to raise Nigerian content level in the oil and gas sector". He stressed the need to focus on compliance and enforcement as key areas within the provisions of the law
The NCDMB solicited EFCC's support in unraveling infractions saying, "We want support in the investigative side of our activities, in view of the serious infractions which are emerging as we sharpen our monitoring and enforcement rules".On the visit were the NCDMB General Manager, Zonal Coordinator, Dr. Ginah Ginah; Barr Naboth Onyesoh, Farid Blell, Mrs Gloria Onayero and Mr Victor Amabebe.More photos below.
