 ANAMBRA POLICE ACTION ON THE CULT CLASH THAT RESULTED IN THE FATAL INJURY OF FOUR PERSONS AT AFOR NAWFIA MARKET The Anambra State Police Command wishes to provide a comprehensive update on the cult-related attack that occurred on the evening of 7th December 2025 at Afor Nawfia Market, along the Onitsha–Awka Old Road. It will be recalled that operatives of the Command attached to the Special Anti-Cult Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, had, four days earlier, acting on credible intelligence about a planned rival cult confrontation, arrested two dangerous suspects and recovered a firearm from them. The arrested suspects have been assisting the Police with valuable information aimed at preventing further cult-related violence within Awka and its environs.        Governor Kayode Fayemi has approved the release of N248,522,900 for the payment of the May/June 2020 WAEC fees of the entire 14,242 SS3 Students in Public Secondary Schools in Ekiti State.
  
The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has approved the release of  N248,522,900 (Two hundred and forty-eight million, five hundred and twenty-two thousand, nine hundred naira), for the payment of the May/June 2020 WAEC fees of the entire 14,242 SS3 Students in Public Secondary Schools in the state.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mr. Foluso Daramola, who made this known in Ado-Ekiti, said the Fayemi Administration had also, in the year 2019, procured 52,000 units of School furniture for Public Secondary Schools, across the state as part of efforts aimed at providing basic infrastructure in schools.
The Commissioner stressed that the present administration has also been paying running grants to all Public Primary and Secondary Schools in the state on a regular basis, adding that about N5 million was being released as monthly feeding and maintenance grants to 3 Special Schools in the state.
He assured that the Dr. Fayemi-led regime would continue to do the needful despite the limited resources at the disposal of the state.
The Commissioner, however, called on individuals, philanthropists and Corporate Organizations, to contribute to the educational development of the state through the institution of scholarship awards for brilliant but indigent students of the state, with a view to achieving sustainable development in the sector.
He reiterated the commitment of the State Government to making education accessible to all and sundry in the state regardless of their origin and status.
Mr. Foluso Daramola warned School Principals and registrars of all Public Secondary Schools across the state against the collection of any fee not approved by the Government from students, calling on parents and guardians to always make the Education of their children a priority.
It will be recalled that Ekiti State Government last year paid over N227million as WAEC fees for the 13,390 candidates in SS3 in Public Secondary Schools in the state.
