 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. LASEMA COMMENCES RECONSTRUCTION OF OPEBI HELICOPTER CRASH SITE.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      Following the visit by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to the helicopter crash site in Opebi and his promise to repair damaged structures, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), has commenced the reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure.

Speaking on the commencement of the rebuilding process, the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer, LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu stated that the Agency will also conduct integrity and impact assessment tests on the affected buildings as well as within 100 metres radius of the entire disaster area as directed by Mr. Governor.
According to him, “Reconstruction of the affected fence and buildings at 14 and 16, Salvation Road, Opebi in Ikeja, destroyed by the helicopter crash, commenced Monday morning, following Mr. Governor's pledge during a working visit and post-disaster assessment of the crash site”.
Oke-Osanyintolu added that the restoration of the affected areas has commenced with the clearing and reconstruction of the incident site.
Recall that a Bell 206 Helicopter, belonging to Quorum Aviation, travelling into Lagos from Port Harcourt with two crew members and a passenger crashed in-between two residential buildings on Salvation road in Opebi, Ikeja.One more photo below.
