 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. NASARAWA ASSEMBLY VOTES IN FAVOUR OF LG AUTONOMY,OTHER BILLS.(PHOTO).


Nasarawa Assembly Votes In Favour Of LG Autonomy, Other Bills

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA) has on Tuesday voted in favour of autonomy for Local Government in Nigeria. 

 Similarly, the House also voted in favour of legislature and judicial autonomy among other bills.

This is coming six months after the transmission of the bills to states assembly by the National Assembly, 25 out of them were yet to vote on the bills.

Speaker Ibrahim Abdullahi Balarabe, announced this during the Presentation of the Transmission of Constitution (Fifth Alteration) Bills, 2022, in Lafia on Tuesday. 

According to him, out of the 66 bills sent to the House by the National Assembly for Alteration, we have voted in favour of 65 bills and voted against one bill. 

“The bills voted in favour included A Bill for an Act to Alter the Provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to Abrogate the State Joint Local Government Account and Provide for a Special Account into which shall be paid all allocations due to Local Government Council's from the Federation Account and from the Government of the State and for Related Matters.

“A Bill for an Act to Alter the Provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to Establish Local Government Council as Tier of Government and Guarantee Their Democratic Existence, Tenure, and for Related Matters. 

“A Bill for an Act to Alter the Provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to provide for the Financial Independence of State Houses of Assembly and States Judiciary and for Related Matters among other bills that we voted in favour.

“We voted against A Bill for an Act to Alter the Provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,1999 to provide for Independent Candidacy in Presidential , Governorship, National Assembly, State Houses of Assembly and Local Government Council Elections, and for Related Matters,’’ Balarabe added. 

 The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to immediately produce a clean copy of the bills and submit same to National Assembly within 24 hours. 

Earlier, Mr. Umar Tanko Tunga, the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion for the alterations of the bills which was seconded by Mr. Daniel Ogah Ogazi, the Deputy Majority Leader. 

The members of the House had during today's proceedings in Lafia voted in favour of 65 bills and against one.
