...Urges Residents To Give Reports Of Defective Buildings

In a bid to avoid building collapse and its attendant effects, the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) today demolished a critically distressed four-floor structure located at Festac Extension Estate, off Eko Akete Road, Mile2, Amuwo-Odofin.

Speaking on the demolition exercise, the General Manager of LASBCA, Arc. Whilst thanking members of Amuwo-Odofin Community Development Association (CDA) and concerned citizens of the area for the early reporting of the distressed building, Oki charged Lagosians to emulate the examplary action of members of the community by reporting cases of distressed and defective structures to LASBCA on email: lasbca@lagosstate.gov.ng, lasbcalag@gmail.com or call 0816214646.

He also urged building owners/developers to do periodic checks and maintenance of their buildings as this will help buildings stand the test of time and curb building collapse in the state.

A member of the community, Miss Anita Ayama expressed the people’s gratitude to LASBCA and the Lagos State Government for the prompt response and action as the building before its demolition had been a source of concern for the residents because of the danger it posed.
