 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. EFCC Arraigns One for Employment Scam in Sokoto

The Sokoto Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,  on Wednesday,  May 24, 2023, arraigned one Muhammad Shehu Dambuwa before Justice Abubakar Adamu of the Sokoto State High Court on one-count charge bordering on cheating to the tune of N1,000,000.00 (One Million Naira only).

The charge reads, "That you, Muhammad Shehu Dambuwa sometime in May, 2022 in Sokoto within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, did dishonestly induce one Usman Muhammad Maiturare to deliver to you the sum of N1,000,000.00 (One Million Naira) while misrepresenting that you had employment offers into the "Nigerian Ports Authority" to give to Usman Maiturare, a fact you knew was false and thereby committed an offence of cheating contrary to Section 310(1)(a) of the Sokoto State Penal Code Law 2019 and punishable under Section 311 of the same Act".

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him. 

In view of his plea, prosecuting counsel,  P. A Attah prayed the court to remand the defendant in a Correctional Centre and fix a date for commencement of trial.

Justice Adamu admitted the Dambuwa to bail in the sum of N5, 000,000 (Five Million Naira) with a surety in like sum.  The surety must deposit a landed property document worth N10 million within the jurisdiction of the court.

He adjourned the matter till June 8, 2023 for commencement of trial.
