  Atiku Fires Back at Obasanjo, Says He Stood by Ex-President in Prison and After Release Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has responded to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s recent criticism, insisting he stood by the former military ruler during his incarceration and after his release from prison, and declaring that history cannot be rewritten. Obasanjo had on Friday described his decision to pick Atiku as his running mate in the 1999 presidential election as the biggest mistake of his presidency. He made the remark in Lagos during a fireside conversation with entertainer and activist Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, at the public presentation of Charly Boy’s foundation and memoir, *999: A Memoir in Tribute to Late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa*. DASH Commences Laporoscopy Surgery

The Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH), Lafia, Nasarawa State has commenced laporoscopy surgery. 

The Head of Surgery Department, Dr. Odunze Odala who announced this on Thursday described the commencement as a landmark achievement which will pave the way to do greater things for the people of Nasarawa State.

She lauded the Chief Medical Director, Dr Ikrama Hassan and his management staff for their dogedness in getting things done in the hospital. 

Ms Odala however appealed for the training of doctors and nurses for effectiveness in the procedures.

Also speaking, the Consultant Surgeon, Dr. Bamidele Omolabake, who performed the first Laporoscopic appendectomy, said the surgery is a minimal access surgery done without cutting the abdomen, with several advantages such as having a better vision of the patient's abdomen to make better diagnosis and better treatment outcome. 

Mr Omolabake added that the surgery is less painful and scarless.
