 HAJJ 2026: 1600 LAGOS PILGRIMS ARRIVE SAFELY FROM MAKKAH The 1,600 Lagos pilgrims who participated in the just-concluded Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have all arrived safely to join their respective families. The safe arrival of the last and final batch of 187 pilgrims on Saturday marked the conclusion of the 2026 Hajj operations. Speaking to journalists at the tarmac of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, the Amir-ul-Hajj and State Commissioner of Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode said that the spiritual exercise was a success for Lagos State. The Commissioner who attributed the success to the exemplary conduct of the pilgrims while in the Holy Land maintained that the State also made adequate arrangements by engaging critical stakeholders ahead of the journey. Ondo Assembly Speaker Oloyeloogun who is under EFCC’s investigation over N2.4m fraud resigns. 


The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Bamidele Oloyeloogun, who is under the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over alleged N2.4 million fraud, has resigned from his position as the head of the state legislative arm.


This development came a few days to the expiration of the ninth Assembly .The speaker’s resignation was contained in a letterhead of the House, signed and addressed to the Clerk of the House, dated 01-06-2023.


The letter was made available on Friday, May 2, 2023, and was titled, ‘Resignation as Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly.’ The letter read, “Please permit me to inform you that I, Rt. Hon. Oleyelogun, Bamidele David, ceases to function as Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly. This follows my decision to resign from the position with effect from today (Thursday).
