  Atiku Fires Back at Obasanjo, Says He Stood by Ex-President in Prison and After Release Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has responded to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s recent criticism, insisting he stood by the former military ruler during his incarceration and after his release from prison, and declaring that history cannot be rewritten. Obasanjo had on Friday described his decision to pick Atiku as his running mate in the 1999 presidential election as the biggest mistake of his presidency. He made the remark in Lagos during a fireside conversation with entertainer and activist Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, at the public presentation of Charly Boy’s foundation and memoir, *999: A Memoir in Tribute to Late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa*. Ondo Assembly Speaker Oloyeloogun who is under EFCC’s investigation over N2.4m fraud resigns. 


The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Bamidele Oloyeloogun, who is under the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over alleged N2.4 million fraud, has resigned from his position as the head of the state legislative arm.


This development came a few days to the expiration of the ninth Assembly .The speaker’s resignation was contained in a letterhead of the House, signed and addressed to the Clerk of the House, dated 01-06-2023.


The letter was made available on Friday, May 2, 2023, and was titled, ‘Resignation as Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly.’ The letter read, “Please permit me to inform you that I, Rt. Hon. Oleyelogun, Bamidele David, ceases to function as Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly. This follows my decision to resign from the position with effect from today (Thursday).
