 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE   ENGINEERS FAROUK AHMED, GBENGA KOMOLAFE RESIGN, PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES SUCCESSORS TO THE SENATE FOR APPROVAL President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).   The requests followed the resignation of Engineer Farouk Ahmed of the NMDPRA and Gbenga Komolafe of the NUPRC. Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies created by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).   To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA.   The two nominees are seasoned professionals in the oil and gas industry.   Eyesan, a graduate of Economics f...

NHRC Records Over 2,000 Human Rights Violations Cases In Kwara

National Human Rights commission (NHRC) in Kwara state says it has recorded over two thousand cases of human rights abuses and violations this year.

The state coordinator, of the Commisssion, Barrister Jumoke Olaoye stated this while speaking at the Biennial Convention of the Committee for the Defence of Human Right(CDHR) Kwara state Chapter ,held in Ilorin.

She said the most prevalent of the human right abuses recorded are child abandonment and wife battering.

Barrister Olaoye said increased in awareness on the activities of the Commisssion made people to voiced out violations against their right.

She explained that the Commisssion has adopted the use of mediation to reduce the cases of human rights abuses to the minimum.

Barrister Olaoye noted that the Commisssion also collaborate with traditional institutions and other stakeholders to ensure sustenance of cases resolved. 

In his keynote address the Director General Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies,(MINILS) Comrade Issa Aremu ,commended members of the Committee for their selfless struggle to protect the rights of the citizens.

He urged them to combine right with responsibilities to make it sustainable.

In his remarks ,the National Vice chairman of the Committee for the Defence of Human righ,Comrade Ade Ikuesan advised the citizens to seek for knowledge and also know their right.

He urged the committee members not to close their eyes to any form of human right Violations.

In his speech the Chairman, Committee for the Defence of Human Right,Kwara state Chapter,Comrade Afolabi Lukman said the Committee will collaborate with all relevant government agencies to defend and uphold the rights of the people in the state.
