 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. BOAT MISHAP CLAIMS 12 LIVES IN NIGER


Boat mishap from two seperate accidents in two Local Government Areas of Niger state has claimed twelve lives.

Acting Director General Niger State Emergency Management Agency NSEMA Alhaji Salihu Garba announced this in an interview with Newsmen in Minna the state capital.

Alh Salihu Garba explained that the incident which occured recently in two Local Government Areas of Borgu and Shiroro also left some other people injured.

Accoding to him ten people have died from the two incidences of boat mishap at Wulakani community in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger state while another two lost their lives from the boat mishap at Gusoro, Shiroro Local Government Area.

He attributed causes of the accidents to strong wind, under water storm, overloading and lack of adherence to safety rules as well as non application of life jackets by some drivers.

Alh Salihu Garba further explained that the Niger State Emergency Management Agency NSEMA is not resting on its oars in educating and enlightening those engaged on water transport on safety measures to overcome problems associated with boat mishap and other challenges for maximum benefits.
