 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta. BOAT MISHAP CLAIMS 12 LIVES IN NIGER


Boat mishap from two seperate accidents in two Local Government Areas of Niger state has claimed twelve lives.

Acting Director General Niger State Emergency Management Agency NSEMA Alhaji Salihu Garba announced this in an interview with Newsmen in Minna the state capital.

Alh Salihu Garba explained that the incident which occured recently in two Local Government Areas of Borgu and Shiroro also left some other people injured.

Accoding to him ten people have died from the two incidences of boat mishap at Wulakani community in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger state while another two lost their lives from the boat mishap at Gusoro, Shiroro Local Government Area.

He attributed causes of the accidents to strong wind, under water storm, overloading and lack of adherence to safety rules as well as non application of life jackets by some drivers.

Alh Salihu Garba further explained that the Niger State Emergency Management Agency NSEMA is not resting on its oars in educating and enlightening those engaged on water transport on safety measures to overcome problems associated with boat mishap and other challenges for maximum benefits.
