 First Lady of Nigeria, Remi Tinubu empowers 250 elderly in Anambra Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered 250 vulnerable elderly indigents of Anambra State with N250,000 cash through her Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme, aimed at promoting the well-being of the elderly citizens and ensuring they live with dignity and joy. The scheme, themed ‘Finding joy in old age’, is in its third edition and it’s designed to support 250 vulnerable elderly citizens from the age of 65 and above in all the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory and veterans from the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association. According to the scheme, the total sum to be disbursed to the 9,500 targeted beneficiaries across the country is N1.9 billion, as approved by the Governing Board of the Renewed Hope Initiative. Kano: NNPP, APC Sign Peace Accord Ahead Of Appeal Court Ruling

The ruling New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) have signed a peace pact with the Kano State Police Command to maintain peace before, during and after the Appeal Court verdict on the governorship election.

Daily Trust reported that the appellant court in Abuja had set Friday to deliver judgement in the state governorship dispute.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, while addressing journalists at the Police Command Headquarters in Bompai on Thursday, said the Force had drawn up modalities that would promote peace and harmony in the state before, during and after the verdict.

Gumel, who spoke in company with other heads of security agencies, added that that the command had concluded all security arrangements to ensure peace.

The two political parties, NNPP and the APC, were represented at the meeting by Vice Chairman of the NNPP, Wada Ibrahim and Secretary of the APC, Ibrahim Sarina.

“Both parties have agreed on ensuring that peace and calmness are sustained before, during and after the declaration of the Appeal Court judgement.

“We have also received assurances from the two political party’s leaders that they will pass the message down to their followers and loyalists,” Gumel said.
