  DEVELOPING STORY: Man Found Unconscious After Allegedly Throwing Children From Storey Building in Aba A man was reportedly found unconscious but still breathing after allegedly falling from a storey building at New Phase of Umuobe by Barracks, Opobo Road, Obignwa, Abia State. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, has caused panic among residents of the area. Eyewitnesses told Magic FM Aba that the man allegedly threw two of his children from the building before attempting to throw down his wife. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. The two children were reportedly rushed to a hospital for medical attention. As of the time of filing this report, Magic FM Aba could not independently confirm their condition or whether they survived the fall. The man, who sustained an injury to the head, was still lying in front of his house and had yet to receive assistance as of the time of this report. POLICE SAY THEY DID NOT TEARGAS FUBARA DELIBERATELY 



“Following the receipt of credible intelligence reports on the intention of some armed group of persons to cause mayhem, particularly at the House of Assembly complex, armed police operatives were deployed.


“The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations (DC Ops) deployed the operatives, going by the previous case of arson on the assembly building.


“The DC Ops personally supervised (the police operatives) to intercept the `hoodlums’ and to ensure the protection of lives and property within the assembly facility and its environs.


“Some minutes later, another aggressive group of people approached the entrance of the complex and advanced toward the premises.


“This led the police to deploy non-lethal crowd control equipment, including teargas and water cannons, to disperse the riotous and uncontrollable protesters.


"The Police, therefore, engaged them in like manner but observed that the Executive Governor of the State, His Excellency,

Siminalayi Fubara, was in their midst.


"The presence of the Governor at the scene was of great surprise and shock as there was no prior communication to the Police on the visit of the Governor to the Scene of the crime which ordinarily is the usual protocol and compliments that will accompany his guard for proper safety considering the intelligence of security threat at hand then."


“To this end, the governor and his entourage went inside the assembly complex to assess the level of damage caused by an earlier fire incident.


“It is pertinent to state that the police did not deliberately attack the governor, or even attempt to hurt anyone, let alone the Chief Executive and Chief Security Officer of the state.


“It is our most essential role to protect the governor, and as such, the news being peddled in some sections of the media is a misrepresentation.
