 Kaduna Targets ₦120bn IGR In 2026 — KADIRS Chairman   Kaduna State has set an Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) target of ₦120 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, with the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) expected to play a central role in achieving the target. The Executive Chairman of KADIRS, Jerry Adams, FCTI, FNIM, FCE, CNA, disclosed this during the Service’s Annual Performance Review, Work Plan, and Strategic Retreat.  He explained that although the state government approved ₦74 billion as KADIRS’ official revenue target, the Service raised its internal benchmark to ₦80.09 billion to motivate staff to exceed expectations. He further stated that the proposed 2026 budget by the Kaduna State Planning and Budget Commission stands at ₦117.28 billion, with KADIRS expected to generate ₦74.28 billion, while Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are projected to generate ₦43.24 billion. Senate Invites NSA, Director SSS, DG NSCDC, Service Chiefs, IG, Other Security Stake Holders for Close Door Meeting 

The senate has invited the National security adviser, the Service chiefs the Inspector of police and the Director of SSS and the Director General of Civil Defence Corps for a close door session with the senate to discuss the security matters of the country

This is part of the prayers of a motion by senator Yar'adua, Abdulaziz Musa (Katsina Central) on the urgent need for the Improvement of coordination and synergy between Nigerian Security Forces and Agencies to help strengthen and win the fight against Insecurity in the nation.

Presrnting the motion before the senate plenary the Sponsor Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yaradua noted that the contemporary security landscape in Nigeria poses unprecedented challenges that outstrip the protective capabilities of any security agency alone. 

He believed therefore, the fight against insurgencies and other novel security crises requires the collaboration of all the relevant security agencies and MDAS;

Yaradua also noted that Nigeria has various security agencies aside the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the Nigeria Police Force which include the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigerian Correctional Service to mention but few and other authorised Civilian Task Forces. 

Additionally, Nigeria has other key security services that oversee both internal and external threats the Department of State Service (DSS), the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA);

He argued that Nigeria faces numerous simultaneous security crises which include the Boko Haram in the North-East; the activities of bandits and kidnappers in the North-west; the activities of gunmen in the South-east and South-south; and other forms of criminality like armed robbery, herders/farmers clashes and cross-border crimes;

Senator 'Yaradua further Informed tge senate about the recent kidnapping of Major General RC Duru (retired) in Owerri, Imo State on 27 September 2023 by members of IPOR, 

He also Informed thr senate about the efforts of troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) on Operation HAKORIN DAMISA IV from 9 to 16 October 2023 neutralised bandit/armed robbers and arrested 59 suspects in connection with kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling, railway vandalism, gunrunning, illegal mining as well as recovered arm/ammunitions and illicit drugs;

But expressed Worries that just recently on the 20th of October 2023, bandits in their numbers raided Danmusa town of Katsina State, killing 7 people, and injuring 10 peopl
and kidnapped a yet to be ascertained number of people.

 Furthermore, the bandits also attacked the people of
Wurma, Tamawa and Dadawa villages in Kurfi LG killing people and rustling cattle; and

Similarly he argued that insecurity in Nigeria can only be tackled if all security agencies and Parastatals that play key roles in National
security work in synergy under a centralized command structure to ensure that the country is highly secured

The senate finally Commend the security forces and agencies in Nigeria for the ongoing efforts made in fighting all forms of insecurity in the country;

Also Urged them to
Improve and enhance their inter-operational synergy and coordination for the effective and holistic tackling of the various types of insecurity plaguing the nation;
