Pennsylvania man dresses up as Ghostface from Scream, then takes the life of his neighbor with a chainsaw and knife.
30-year-old Zak Moyer was charged with criminal homicide in connection to the Monday death of his neighbor 59-year-old Edward Whitehead Jr.
Police in Leighton Borough, Pennsylvania were called to the scene of an active assault Monday afternoon. Once on scene they discovered Whitehead with a large puncture wound in the side of his head and multiple cuts to his head, arms and hands. He was extracted from the home and taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
After viewing the security video from Whitehead's home they observed a man dressed in a black robe and face mask depicting the antagonist in the Scream movie franchise. They were able to determine the assailant was Zak Moyer, Whitehead's next door neighbor.
Police quickly surrounded his home and called state police for backup and began negotiations with the suspect. Moyer who communicated through writings on a notepad held up to a window claimed Whitehead had killed women and children last summer.
Police say there is no evidence this ever happened and they do not plan on looking into it. I don't know, I might at least look into it a little bit.
Eventually Moyer changed out of his costume and exited the house peacefully giving himself over to police.
Moyer's sister told police that he had talked about killing Whitehead last week, she added after the murder he calmly came home and watched a movie. They have not released what movie he watched, but I have a really good guess.
Police were able to recover a battery powered chainsaw and a knife used in the crime from Moyer's home.
Moyer is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 3.
The day after Zak's arrest, his father was also arrested for harrasing the victim's family.
This is a strange case for sure.
