 Press Release: Every Hisbah Officer Is a Peace and Security Ambassador in His Community. Kano State Governor Alh.Abba Kabir Yusuf has reaffirmed the determination of his administration to ensure security and peace  for the protection of lives and property across the state. The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani Sani Auwal, made the commitment during a stakeholders meeting on the contribution of shari'a sector institutions toward promoting peace and security in Kano State. The meeting was organized by the Kano State Hisbah Board and held at the Coronation hall Government House, Kano. He emphasized that security is a collective responsibility and urged the Hisbah Board to focus more on providing intelligence reports to conventional security agencies, rather than limiting efforts to moral enforcement alone.  Kanu trail stalled at Abuja High Court


The trail of the leader of the Indigenous People of Baifra, Nnamdi Kanu, for terrorism charges was stalled today at the Federal High Court, Abuja before Justice Binta Nyako.

At the resumed hearing on the matter today, Counsel to Kanu had gave some conditions for the the continuation of his trial. 


Galaxy tv reports that during the hearing on Wednesday at the Federal High Court Abuja, Kanu agreed to acceleration of prosecution of the charges against him on the ground that his conditions are met.


The IPOB leader, through his lawyer Aloy Ejimakor, listed three conditions that must be met before the trial could resume.

Among others, he demanded that the bail granted him earlier be restored to enable him prepare for his defense.

He claimed that the bail was erroneously revoked based on a false and fraudulent claim of the Federal Government.


Kanu also requested that the setting aside of the arrest warrant issued against him based on allegations by government that he had jumped bail and escaped out of the country.

He also demanded that his lawyer must be permitted to have unhindered access to him as required by law.


The Biafra agitator said that he would be willing to face accelerated trial once the conditions are met.

The Federal Government through its counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, asked the court to reject the conditions on the ground that they are frivolous, vexatious, irritating and baseless.

The senior lawyer said that the court had earlier rejected the bail application and as such the court cannot over rule itself.

Awomolo argued that the only option open to Kanu is to go to the Court of Appeal to challenge the rejected bail request.


Justice Binta Nyako who urged Kanu to make decision on the commencement of the trial of have the case adjourned Sina die, later adjourned the matter till May 20th for the ruling on the two applications.
