 Tanzania closes Nduta camp housing thousands of Burundi refugees Tanzania has closed a camp housing thousands of Burundian refugees and repatriated all but a handful, activists and the United Nations said. Burundian refugees have complained in recent months of being forcibly evicted from the Nduta camp in northwestern Tanzania, following a deal between the governments in Dar Es Salaam and Bujumbura to repatriate around 100,000 of them by June. As of late 2025, there were an estimated 142,000 Burundian refugees housed in two Tanzanian camps - Nduta and Nyarugusu, according to the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR). "The approximately 3,000 refugees who remained in the (Nduta) camp were forcibly loaded onto vehicles to be sent back to Burundi on Thursday," the Coalition for Human Rights/Living in Refugee Camps (CDH/VICAR) said, AFP reported.  EFCC Arrests 11 for Suspected  Illegal Mining Activities in Ilorin


Operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested eleven persons and impounded eight truckload of assorted minerals for suspected involvement in Illegal mining activities in Ilorin,  Kwara State

  

The suspects are Ibrahim Gambo, Hakeem Saka, Ahmad Muktar, Sulaiman Ibrahim, Ibrahim Muhammad, Jamiu Mustapha, Rabiu Musa, Aisha Muham, Abdulwasiu Hannafi, Qudus Olalere and Babatunde Hakeem.  


They were arrested on Wednesday, May 5, 2024,  upon credible intelligence at different locations in Ogbomosho, Oyo State   while conveying assorted solid minerals suspected to be marble stone, white powder, lithium, lepidolite to undisclosed destinations without lawful authority.


 The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of ongoing investigations.
