PUBLIC NOTICE MISUSE OF NAME, OFFICE OF THE INSPECTOR-GENERAL OF POLICE The Nigeria Police Force is concerned about the persistent unprofessional conduct of a few Police officers which undermines the standards and reputation of the Nigeria Police Force. Despite repeated warnings and disciplinary actions taken against those who have been exposed, some officers are still engaging in these shameful acts that erode public trust. Even more alarming is the fraudulent use of the name and office of the Inspector-General of Police to perpetrate these illegal acts. The intention behind this tactic is to intimidate victims into believing that the IGP is aware, and approves of their illegal activities. As a result, victims are often deterred from reporting these incidents to higher authorities. We urge members of the public to report any misconduct by Police Officers to their superiors, the Heads of the Complaint Response Units (CRU) in their states or the Commissioner of Police in the state....

Fubara denies promising to pay N80,000 minimum wage

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has denied proposing to pay a minimum wage of N80,000 to workers in the state and local government areas.

The denial came following reports circulating online that the governor had promised to pay the said sum.

But his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt, the state capital, on Friday described the report as unverified claims.

The statement read,, ā€œThe attention of the Rivers State Government has been drawn to claims circulating in an online media that the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara,, has proposed to pay a new minimum wage of N80,000 for civil servants in the dtate and local government areas.

ā€œOrdinarily, we would not have responded to this fake news, but for the wrong impression it would create in the minds of the public, especially civil servants in the state.

ā€œTherefore, it is important to state that the unverified claims being circulated by Newsweekng.com, and titled: ā€˜Breaking News: Governor Fubara Proposes N80,000 minimum wageā€™ are totally false and misleading.

ā€œThe general public, and particularly civil servants in the state, are advised to discountenance the false claims in the online media platform. The Rivers State Government will make its position on the issue known in due course.ā€
