 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

 LAGOS DSVA HOLDS "MEN WEY SABI" AT IPAJA COMMUNITY


Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has reiterated its efforts to curb Gender-Based Violence through strategic and behavioural mindset programmes, sensitising and training all relevant stakeholders in the community of Ipaja.


The Executive Secretary of DSVA, Mrs.Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi disclosed during the Agency's awareness programme tagged: "Man Wey Sabi" held recently at Ipaja community, Ipaja, adding that the initiative was designed to address Gender stereotypes in Lagos.


Mrs.Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, who was represented by the Head, Community Engagement Unit, Mr. Damilare Adewusi added that the awareness programme was the 7th in the series of "Men wey sabi", declaring that so far, about an estimated one million have been reached through this initiative.


She also revealed that over 4000 fliers were distributed at each of these events to further propagate the message, adding that the primary objective was to spread the message in a spirited manner by challenging stereotypes regarding men's involvement in childcare and the essence of the marriage partnership.


Reiterating the need to collectively take responsibility for woman empowerment, Vivour-Adeniyi enjoined the community leaders and residents of Ipaja community to champion gender equality.


The sensitisation program addressed men's pivotal roles in ending domestic and sexual violence and promoting partnership in marriages. It also featured a cooking competition sponsored by Power Oil Nigeria Limited to showcase Men's culinary skills.


Mr. Chuks Paul emerged as the winner and expressed gratitude to the Agency for bringing the initiative to Ipaja community. Other male participants in the competition were Mr. Adefisioye Segun, Raphael Lawrence, Mr. Issac Zion and Mr. Deji Romiluyi.
