 Renowned 20th-century philosopher Jürgen Habermas dies at 96 Jürgen Habermas, the German philosopher widely recognized for his contributions to modern political thought and democratic theory, died Saturday in Starnberg, Germany, at the age of 96. His passing was confirmed in a statement by his Berlin-based publisher, Suhrkamp Verlag, which noted that Habermas’s work, translated into more than 40 languages, had left a lasting impact on global intellectual discourse. Jonathan Landgrebe, head of the publishing house, described him as “a significant philosopher, ever-present advisor, and dear friend.” For more than six decades, Habermas helped shape postwar and post-reunification German political life. He is best known for conceptualizing the “public sphere,” a domain for discussion free from state influence, which he argued is essential for a functioning democracy.  Police Summon NLC President Joe Ajaero Over Allegations of Criminal Conspiracy and Terrorism Financing


The Nigeria Police Force has officially summoned Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), for questioning in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.


The letter of invitation, issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Guzape District, Abuja, was dated August 19, 2024. It specifically directed Ajaero to report to the IRT Complex, Old Abattoir, Guzape Junction, Abuja, by 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.


The letter warned that failure to honor the invitation could lead to the activation of a warrant for Ajaero’s arrest.


The investigation is being handled by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) under the leadership of ACP Adamu S. Mu’azu.
