 ACCORD PARTY GARNERS SUPPORT FOR GOVERNOR ADELEKE FOR SECOND TERM Ahead of the August 15th Osun State governorship election, Accord party has urged the people of the state to re-elect Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing his administration as one that has delivered significant progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and workers' welfare. In a statement, the party's National Chairman,  Maxwell Mgbudem, said Governor Adeleke's achievements justify a second term and expressed confidence that voters would support the continuity of his administration. The party also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to remain neutral and ensure a free, fair, credible and transparent election. It further warned against vote buying, insisting that every valid vote must count, and described the Osun governorship election as a key test of INEC's readiness for the 2027 general election.

A LABOURER SOLD HIS 25-DAY-OLD DAUGHTER IN INDIA. (PHOTO).

 In a tragic incident in Assam’s Dhemaji district, a daily wage laborer allegedly sold his 25-day-old daughter for Rs. 30,000, officials said on Tuesday. The baby was rescued by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) after they found her at the home of a doctor, where she had been taken by intermediaries involved in the transaction.


According to Rupali Deka Borgohain, the CWC chairperson, a complaint has been filed at Silapathar police station against the infant’s parents, the purchaser, and others involved in the sale. The complaint states that the baby girl was born on October 4 at Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh, but her parents, Budhiman and Sabita Borah, disappeared from the hospital shortly after her birth due to financial hardship.


A tip-off led Childline Dhemaji to investigate, where they eventually traced the family but found they had ignored orders to appear before the CWC. Police reports later confirmed that the parents had retrieved the child from the hospital and subsequently sold her to Pegu Sohoria and her husband, who reside in Silapathar.


The baby was eventually located at the home of Dr. Chandrajit Doley, where the CWC intervened to rescue her. Two intermediaries, Bubul Borah and Dilip Saikia, were also identified as key facilitators in the sale. Police are actively investigating the case to determine the full extent of those involved.
