A THIEF RETURNED STOLEN IDOLS OF RADHA & KRISHNA TO A TEMPLE AFTER BEING HAUNTED BY NIGHTMARES AND SERIOUS ILLNESS IN HIS FAMILY. (PHOTO).

In an unusual turn of events, a thief returned stolen idols of Radha and Krishna to a temple in Prayagraj after being haunted by nightmares and serious illness in his family. The idols, made of ashtadhatu, were stolen from the Gau Ghat Ashram temple under the Nawabganj police station limits on the night of September 23. After seven days, the thief left the idols outside the temple along with a confession letter, explaining that he was tormented by frightening dreams and seeking forgiveness.

According to the police, locals spotted a man dropping a sack outside the temple and fleeing. Upon investigation, they found the stolen idols inside the sack and informed both the temple priest and the authorities. The letter left behind by the thief revealed that he had stolen the idols out of desperation for money but soon regretted his actions as his life became troubled with bad dreams and his family’s health deteriorated.

The thief admitted that he had tried to tamper with the idols in order to sell them but was unable to find peace after the crime. His letter expressed remorse and a plea for forgiveness from the temple priest and the deities, urging the priest to place the idols back inside the temple.

The temple priest, Mahant Swami Jairam Das Maharaj, identified the idols and immediately performed rituals, including a jalabhishek, to restore them to their rightful place. The police are investigating the matter, while locals view the thief’s act as a sign of divine intervention.
