 ACCORD PARTY GARNERS SUPPORT FOR GOVERNOR ADELEKE FOR SECOND TERM Ahead of the August 15th Osun State governorship election, Accord party has urged the people of the state to re-elect Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing his administration as one that has delivered significant progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and workers' welfare. In a statement, the party's National Chairman,  Maxwell Mgbudem, said Governor Adeleke's achievements justify a second term and expressed confidence that voters would support the continuity of his administration. The party also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to remain neutral and ensure a free, fair, credible and transparent election. It further warned against vote buying, insisting that every valid vote must count, and described the Osun governorship election as a key test of INEC's readiness for the 2027 general election.

 Dozen drug boats spotted on the coast of Las Negras


A dozen drug boats have been seen and recorded on video this weekend on the coast of Las Negras, a coastal town in the Almería municipality of Níjar, located in the Cabo de Gata-Níjar natural park.


Sources from the Almería Command have indicated to EFE that during the last few days "some vessels of this type have been detected" near the coast of Almería, although they have specified that they cannot determine if they are the same ones that have been recorded on video.


The Civil Guard has stressed that sightings of this type of vessel are common on the coast of the province of Almería.


On previous occasions, the armed institute has explained that the main hypothesis that the body is considering is that they are vessels dedicated to "petaqueo". which facilitate the refuelling of other ships dedicated to drug trafficking or immigration.


The vessels could be seen during the days of Saturday and Sunday, but on Monday they disappeared from the area, once the orange alert for rain began in which different points of the province of Almería are found.


"For eight months we have been asking the Subdelegation of the Government and the Ministry of the Interior of the Government of Spain to urgently take the necessary measures to end the impunity of drug boats on the coast of Níjar," said in statements to EFE the mayor of Níjar, José Francisco Garrido (PP).


"Given that these vessels continue to operate freely on our coast these days and that the Government's inability to put an end to this problem, which affects the security and image of our municipality, is once again demonstrated, as Mayor of Níjar I once again demand that the Government's sub-delegate in Almería, the Minister of the Interior, provide the Civil Guard with the necessary means and personnel so that it can confront these criminals and once and for all put an end to impunity on our coast," the mayor stressed.
