A doctor has been arrested in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district for allegedly raping a female patient multiple times after administering a sedative at his clinic, according to the police. The accused, Noor Alam Sardar, reportedly injected the woman with a medicine that made her unconscious, then took advantage of her state. The woman lodged a complaint detailing the abuse, leading to the doctor’s swift arrest by local authorities.
The woman alleged that Sardar not only assaulted her but also took explicit photos to blackmail her into paying Rs. 4 lakh. She claims the doctor threatened to release the images on social media if she did not comply. The woman, who lives alone in Hasnabad while her husband works abroad, said she initially resisted taking the injection but eventually agreed on the doctor’s recommendation for a faster recovery.
Her husband stated that upon regaining consciousness, his wife realized she had been assaulted. Traumatized, she later attempted to end her life due to the constant blackmail. When her husband learned of her distress from a neighbor, he immediately returned to India, and together they reported the incident to the police.
The Basirhat Superintendent of Police, Hossain Mehedi Rehman, confirmed the arrest, saying authorities acted quickly after receiving the complaint. The court has since placed Sardar in police custody, where officers are questioning him to uncover further details.
