 Again, Gov Diri Tasks Traditional Rulers To Maintain Peace, Security At King Awala's Coronation  Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has again urged traditional rulers to remain focused on the maintenance of peace, security and stability in their various domains as part of their contribution towards the development of the state. Governor Diri made the call at the weekend during the coronation ceremony ofHis Royal Majesty King Victor Awala, Ebeni-Ibe the Eighth (VIII) of Atissa Kingdom in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, at the Bishop Dimieari Grammar School, Yenagoa, the state capital. Represented by his deputy, Dr Peter Akpe, the Bayelsa Chief Executive acknowledged the critical role traditional rulers play in society as the custodians of culture and tradition, stressing that his administration will continue to hold them in high esteem. BRAZILIAN WOMAN ARRESTED FOR SMUGGLING COCAINE WORTH R1. 9 M. (PHOTO).


 A 44-year-old Brazilian woman was apprehended at OR Tambo International Airport on Thursday, 28 November 2024, after arriving from Sao Paulo. SAPS intelligence intercepted the suspect and discovered cocaine wrapped around her upper body.


The woman is facing charges of drug trafficking and is expected to appear before the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court soon. This incident marks the second arrest of a drug trafficker with cocaine concealed on their person this week. On Sunday, a Brazilian man was arrested with R1.8 million worth of cocaine.


The OR Tambo International Airport police are sending a strong message that South Africa will not tolerate drug trafficking, and they will continue to crack down on those attempting to smuggle illicit substances into the country.
