 M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept". S. A: POLICE HAILED FOR REFUSING R15, 000 BRIBE. (PHOTOS)


 A police officer in South Africa has been hailed as a hero after refusing a R15,000 bribe and instead arresting a Malawian national who was trying to cross the border with a stolen vehicle worth approximately R980,000.


The incident occurred when the officer stopped the suspect at a border crossing and discovered that the vehicle he was driving had been reported stolen. The suspect offered the officer a bribe of R15,000 to let him pass, but the officer refused and arrested the suspect instead.


The officer's actions have been praised by the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the public, who commend him for his integrity and commitment to upholding the law. The suspect is now facing charges related to the possession of stolen property and attempting to bribe a law enforcement officer.
