Tension Escalates in Isinkan Community Over Alleged Land Grabbing Incident

Tension has risen in Isinkan, the headquarters of Akure West LCDA in Ondo State, after suspected land grabbers, allegedly armed with weapons, disrupted an ongoing housing project. Reports suggest that around ten individuals arrived at the construction site in a convoy, chased off workers, and damaged equipment.

Sources claim the intruders were acting under the instructions of the Deji of Akureland, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo. However, Mr. Akin Akinwumi, Secretary to the families who own the land, strongly rejected these allegations. He explained that the property has been in their family for over 500 years and was granted by the Iralepo of Isinkan. The land was surveyed, sold to PWAN Homes Ltd., and developed, and Akinwumi expressed surprise at the reported interference, questioning the Deji’s involvement in the legitimate transaction.

The Iralepo of Isinkan, Oba Oluwagbemiga Olofin-Adimula, condemned the disruption, calling for an investigation by the Ondo State Police and stressing that land disputes should be settled through legal means, not through violence. He confirmed that the land in question had been surveyed and approved by the relevant government authorities.

In response, the Deji of Akureland, through his Chief Press Secretary, Michael Adeleye, dismissed the allegations as "false and wicked," stating that the Deji’s palace had no association with thugs. He claimed that leaders from the Ajegunle community had raised concerns that the Iralepo had sold the land without their consent and that miscreants had been hired to destroy crops. Adeleye added that the Deji had sent staff to meet with the developer, asserting that the land sale was unlawful and that the police were investigating the matter.

The dispute continues to unfold, with both sides maintaining opposing positions as the investigation proceeds.
