No good deed goes unpunished.  A Florida sea tow captain saved a man from a burning ship only to be shoved overboard and have his boat stolen. This shocking incident occurred near Marco Island on March 6th. On that date, a call went out regarding a burning boat. The captain of a sea tow boat heard the distress call and rushed to provide aid. He was able to quickly locate the burning boat and  discovered 40-year-old, Ryan Deiter, and his dog onboard the burning ship. Wasting no time, the captain of the sea tow boat was able to maneuver alongside the distressed boat and begin efforts to extricate Deiter and his dog from the doomed vessel.  Eventually, the sea tow captain was able to pull both Deiter and his dog onboard the tow boat. However, once Deiter was pulled to safety, he repaid a stranger's kindness with treachery.  Deiter shoved the captain from his own boat and fled the scene in the stolen boat, leaving the man who had just risked his own vessel and life...

Itsekiri Accuses DESOPADEC of Marginalization in Project Allocation

The Itsekiri ethnic group has expressed concerns over alleged marginalization in the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC)'s allocation of projects. In an open letter to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the Itsekiri Leaders of Thought (ILoT) called for action to address the alleged injustice.

The letter, signed by ILoT Chairman Chief Edward Ekpoko and Secretary Sir Sunny Mene, criticized the commission for failing to allocate the due 29 percent share to the Itsekiri people in the 2023 project distribution. The leaders noted that the 2023 Centralized Budget had violated the agreed-upon sharing formula, particularly in the implementation of centralized projects.

The letter emphasized the Itsekiri people’s dissatisfaction with the current treatment and warned that such actions could have lasting consequences. It urged the governor to rectify the situation promptly, asserting that the 2023 budget had not only breached the law but also undermined the rights of oil-producing communities, with the Itsekiri ethnic group being a primary victim of this inequality.
