 2027: BENUE GOVT TELLS APPOINTEES, DECLARE NOW OR STEP ASIDE 17th December, 2025   The Benue State Government has directed all political appointees seeking to contest elective offices to formally declare their intentions and tender their resignation letters. In a statement issued from the Office of the Deputy Governor, the directive follows the surge in political activities and growing expressions of interest in elective positions across the state. According to the notice, affected appointees are required to submit written expressions of interest for their preferred offices, alongside formal resignation letters, to the Office of the Deputy Governor on or before Thursday, December 18, 2025. The submissions will be transmitted to Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia for further consideration and necessary action.  Six Nigerians Arrested in Libya for Alleged Drug Trafficking


Libyan authorities have detained six Nigerians in Tripoli for suspected drug trafficking after they were discovered with large quantities of cocaine intended for distribution.

The arrests were carried out by the Department of Investigation within Libya’s Stability Support Agency, which also handed over the seized drugs to local authorities for further analysis.


Migrant Rescue Watch, a humanitarian organization, confirmed the arrests in a statement.


The suspects, comprising one male and five females, have been referred to public prosecution for legal proceedings.


According to the statement, “The Stability Support Agency—Department of Investigation dismantled a drug trafficking operation in Tripoli, arresting six Nigerian migrants (one male and five females) in possession of substantial amounts of cocaine ready for distribution. All have been referred to public prosecution for legal action.”


This incident follows the arrest of two Nigerians in November by Libyan authorities in Sabha and Bani Walid on similar charges of drug trafficking. They were found with 1,200 hallucinogenic pills and other illegal substances.
