 South Africa says US misrepresented its policies after visa curbs South Africa's foreign ministry said on Wednesday that it ‌had noted with concern U.S. visa restrictions on some people from South Africa announced by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio a day earlier. The foreign ministry added in a statement that ⁠the U.S. announcement aligned with "the mischaracterisation of South Africa's domestic policies by fringe groups". "We maintain that challenges in our bilateral relations with the USA can only be resolved by constructive engagement through state actors on both sides of the diplomatic channel not unilateral acts," the statement said, Reuters reported. Trump has repeatedly criticized ‌South ⁠Africa since the start of his second term for what he falsely claims is the racial persecution of its white minority, citing affirmative action laws aimed at ⁠addressing the inequality that has persisted since apartheid.  Six Nigerians Arrested in Libya for Alleged Drug Trafficking


Libyan authorities have detained six Nigerians in Tripoli for suspected drug trafficking after they were discovered with large quantities of cocaine intended for distribution.

The arrests were carried out by the Department of Investigation within Libya’s Stability Support Agency, which also handed over the seized drugs to local authorities for further analysis.


Migrant Rescue Watch, a humanitarian organization, confirmed the arrests in a statement.


The suspects, comprising one male and five females, have been referred to public prosecution for legal proceedings.


According to the statement, “The Stability Support Agency—Department of Investigation dismantled a drug trafficking operation in Tripoli, arresting six Nigerian migrants (one male and five females) in possession of substantial amounts of cocaine ready for distribution. All have been referred to public prosecution for legal action.”


This incident follows the arrest of two Nigerians in November by Libyan authorities in Sabha and Bani Walid on similar charges of drug trafficking. They were found with 1,200 hallucinogenic pills and other illegal substances.
