  DEVELOPING STORY: Man Found Unconscious After Allegedly Throwing Children From Storey Building in Aba A man was reportedly found unconscious but still breathing after allegedly falling from a storey building at New Phase of Umuobe by Barracks, Opobo Road, Obignwa, Abia State. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, has caused panic among residents of the area. Eyewitnesses told Magic FM Aba that the man allegedly threw two of his children from the building before attempting to throw down his wife. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. The two children were reportedly rushed to a hospital for medical attention. As of the time of filing this report, Magic FM Aba could not independently confirm their condition or whether they survived the fall. The man, who sustained an injury to the head, was still lying in front of his house and had yet to receive assistance as of the time of this report.  EFCC Arraigns One for N14.9million Fraud in Gombe

 

The Gombe Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned One  Habu Gambo on a one- count charge bordering on  intent to defraud and fraudulently obtaining the gross sum of  N14,907,000  (Fourteen Million Nine Hundred and Seven Thousand Naira)  before Justice Mashkur Salisu of the Federal High Court Jalingo, Taraba State

 

The charge reads: That you  Habu Gambo (a.k.a Abubakar Gambo) sometimes between November 2020 and February 2022 at Jalingo Taraba State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court , with intent to defraud, fraudulently obtained the gross sum of Fourteen Million Nine Hundred and Seven Thousand Naira (N14,907,000) from Sanusi Gado by falsely representing to him that the money is for the business of buying grains, representation which you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(1)(b ) of the Advanced Fee Fraud and Other Fraud related offences , act 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same act.

 

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.

 

In view of his plea, prosecution counsel,  SE Okemini prayed the court  for a trial date.   However, counsel to the defendant, Sale Abdullahi moved a motion for bail for his client which was opposed by the prosecution on the ground that he had earlier jumped an administrative bail granted him by the EFCC.

 

Justice Salisu thereafter remanded the defendant at Jalingo Correctional Centre  and  adjourned the case to February 20, 2025 for commencement of trial.
