Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported.  TCN Completes Tower Relocation, Restores Power Supply to Apo Substation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the completion of the relocation of eight 132kV and 33kV transmission towers along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV line, restoring full power supply to the 132/33kV Apo Transmission Substation in Abuja.

This development, delayed by three days, ensures the resumption of normal electricity distribution to affected areas within the Federal Capital Territory.

In a statement signed by Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, the company explained that the relocation was necessitated by the Federal Capital Development Authority’s Road dualization project along the Apo axis.

The two-week project, which began on January 6, 2025, involved dismantling and reconstructing the towers and restringing power cables. During this period, a planned daily power outage was implemented from 9 am to 4 pm to facilitate the work.

With the completion of the project on January 23, 2025, TCN has assured that normal electricity supply can now resume, and Abuja DisCo is positioned to end the load rationing previously enforced.

The TCN spokesperson expressed gratitude to customers for their patience during the project and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to ensuring reliable power supply.
