INVESTIGATING MY FATHER'S GOVT ISN'T A BAD THING IF DONE WITH CLEAR INTENTIONS- BELLO EL-RUFAI. (PHOTO).

Investigating My Father’s Government Isn’t A Bad Thing If Done With Clear Intentions - Bello El-Rufai

Bello El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has stated that investigating his father’s administration by Governor Uba Sani’s government is not a bad thing, as long as it is done with clear intentions and not to humiliate anyone out of perceived acrimony.

Speaking on BBC Hausa, Bello, who represents Kaduna North in the House of Representatives, expressed his displeasure over the rift between his father and Governor Sani but noted that he is not in a position to reconcile them.

He emphasized the importance of fairness in governance, warning against politically motivated investigations.

“It is not a bad thing to investigate, but it should be done with clear intention and not to humiliate anyone or because someone has offended you. But if you are doing it for selfish reasons, Allah will judge. Allah will forgive your frailties, but will not overlook the harm you inflict on someone,” he said.

Bello attributed the fallout between his father and Governor Sani to the natural ups and downs of life, likening it to friendships and marriages that sometimes break. However, he stressed the importance of maintaining relationships despite disagreements.

“Marriages sometimes break, friends can cut ties. But it is important to maintain and preserve the ties, no matter what,” he noted.

Although he claimed not to be aware of the exact cause of the fallout, Bello doubted that either man harbored deep grudges.

“None of them told me anything about the rift. I only got to understand that things are no longer as before, and the issue is being overly exaggerated,” he said.

Expressing his wish for peace, Bello stated, “It’s unsettling. I wouldn’t love to see even my enemies picking a fight with each other. I love peace.”

For those urging him to intervene in the dispute, Bello clarified that his primary focus remains serving his constituents.

“It is not my job. Mine is to focus on delivering on my mandate to the good people of Kaduna North. I love peace and fidelity. But for me, if I were to join issues with anyone, I’d rather approach it not publicly,” he said.

He also praised his father’s political acumen, saying, “Politically speaking, Mallam Nasiru has no equal. He is only concentrating on his work. He’s a father, he’s my father. It is surprising that some people are waiting for me to say something about Governor Uba.”
