Lack of Science Teachers In Southern Kaduna Public Schools Worrisome, Senator Katung Laments, Calls On Federal And State Ministries Of Education To Take Action

The Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, has expressed concern over the scarcity of science teachers in his constituency. He called on both the Federal and State Ministries of Education to develop strategies to address the challenge.

Speaking at an interactive session with the Southern Kaduna Journalists Forum, Senator Katung noted that although there are several science schools in the country equipped with laboratories, many lack science teachers.

He emphasized that some zonal education offices in his constituency have only two mathematics teachers, while there is a high demand for physics, chemistry, and biology teachers—subjects that are crucial for technological advancement.

The Senator urged political office holders to operate beyond party affiliations to achieve meaningful results. He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for their prompt approval of the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, Kaduna State.

He further encouraged media professionals to prioritize news coverage that promotes national development and societal progress.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Southern Kaduna Journalists Forum, Mr. Ango Bally, commended the Senator for his achievements in the zone within a short period. He emphasized that political and infrastructural backwardness necessitated the establishment of the forum to bring such issues to public attention.
