 The Defence Headquarters says troops eliminated over 100 terrorists, arrested 345 terrorists, and rescued 393 kidnapped victims in the month of July. The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, stated this during the monthly Defence Media Operations briefing at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja. Major General Onoja added that during the period under review, 57 terrorists surrendered, over 1,000 arms and assorted ammunition were recovered, 18 illegal refining sites were destroyed, while 250,500 litres of stolen crude oil and refined petroleum products were recovered. Speaking further, Major General Onoja, on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, reaffirmed the Armed Forces' commitment to the protection of lives and property nationwide, and their resolve to ensure that kidnapping, terrorism, secessionist agitation, and other forms of criminality are purged from society.

 Edo Gov Okpebholo Repairs Benin-Iruekpen Expressway, Inspects Key Road Projects


Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has completed remedial work on the neglected Benin-Iruekpen federal road, significantly easing movement for motorists.


During a tour of the expressway, Okpebholo expressed satisfaction with the contractor’s work and reaffirmed his commitment to improving road infrastructure in collaboration with the federal government. He highlighted the impact of the repairs, noting that travel time on the road had been reduced from four hours to 45 minutes.


The governor also inspected other road projects, including Ekiuwa University of Benin Road, Oba Erediuwa Road, and roads in Ekiuwa Uteh and Orior-Ozolua. Additionally, he assessed a major drainage project at Uteh Temboga and visited a gully erosion site where interventions had restored access for vehicles.


Okpebholo emphasized his administration’s dedication to development, stating that his work is a testament to Edo people's trust in him.
