  DEVELOPING STORY: Man Found Unconscious After Allegedly Throwing Children From Storey Building in Aba A man was reportedly found unconscious but still breathing after allegedly falling from a storey building at New Phase of Umuobe by Barracks, Opobo Road, Obignwa, Abia State. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, has caused panic among residents of the area. Eyewitnesses told Magic FM Aba that the man allegedly threw two of his children from the building before attempting to throw down his wife. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. The two children were reportedly rushed to a hospital for medical attention. As of the time of filing this report, Magic FM Aba could not independently confirm their condition or whether they survived the fall. The man, who sustained an injury to the head, was still lying in front of his house and had yet to receive assistance as of the time of this report. GOV. ALIA BANS PROTEST, RESTRICTS ACCESS TO BENUE COURTS

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has imposed a ban on protests, unauthorised gatherings, and commercial activities within and around court premises in the state, citing security concerns.

The directive, however, exempts members of the election petitions tribunal, legal counsels, and petitioners involved in ongoing cases.


In a statement issued on Tuesday, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, noted that courts in the state have remained shut since December 6, 2024, due to the ongoing strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria.


“To maintain law and order, His Excellency has banned any form of protest, unauthorized gathering, or commercial activities such as hawking within and around court premises. Anyone found violating this directive will face legal consequences,” the statement read.


While restricting access, Governor Alia acknowledged that the Local Government Election Petition Tribunals are utilizing certain court halls for their proceedings.


Given the time-sensitive nature of election-related cases, he emphasized that only the tribunals would be granted access to designated court facilities.


The statement further disclosed that the government has put in place adequate security measures to ensure the safety of tribunal members, petitioners, respondents, legal representatives, witnesses, and tribunal staff.


Alia assured that the state remains committed to upholding due process and ensuring the uninterrupted proceedings of the election petition tribunal.


“As a firm believer in the judiciary and the rule of law, His Excellency urges the public to remain calm and patient while awaiting the tribunal’s decisions. Since assuming office, Benue State has enjoyed relative peace on the security front, though some challenges persist,” the statement added.


The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to security and maintaining a peaceful environment across the state.
