M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords.  Police Uncover LASU Graduate’s Shallow Grave, Arrest Fourth Suspect

The Lagos State Police Command has discovered the burial site of Adedamola Ogunbode, a Lagos State University (LASU) graduate, following the arrest of the prime suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo.

It was reported that Ajisomo, previously rumored to have fled to the Benin Republic, was apprehended on Monday in the Alakuko area and has been assisting detectives in locating the grave.

The deceased, a Political Science Education graduate, had been missing since January 16, 2025. Last Friday, the police announced the arrest of three suspects and the ongoing search for five others linked to the murder. Among them was Pastor Whepetoji Sunday, accused of receiving N70,000 from the victim’s account, and Sheriff Adebayo, a church member who allegedly received N300,000.

Additionally, the prime suspect’s mother, Omolara Ajisomo, was arrested for allegedly helping her children, Teniola and Olaoluwa, escape after they each withdrew N300,000 from the victim’s account.

Lagos State Police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that Ajisomo was responsible for emptying Ogunbode’s bank account using his mobile phone.

Hundeyin also clarified that the grave was not within the church premises, countering social media speculation. Meanwhile, the church linked to the arrested cleric has been sealed off to prevent a retaliatory attack.

A source involved in the investigation revealed that detectives were on their way to exhume the victim’s remains, following Ajisomo’s confession to the crime.
