Bauchi Court Jails Man for Vandalising JED Transformer
A Bauchi Upper Sharia Court in Toro has sentenced Julabib Muhammead to two years in prison for vandalising a transformer owned by Jos Electricity Distribution (JED) Plc.
Reacting, JED’s spokesperson, Saratu Dauda Aliyu, hailed the verdict as a step forward in curbing infrastructure vandalism, which she said has diverted critical funds from network upgrades.
She praised the Toro community for helping prevent further damage and urged residents to help protect power installations. Aliyu affirmed JED’s commitment to working with security agencies to prosecute vandals and maintain steady electricity supply.
