 FIFA president Gianni Infantino abandons plan to sell World Cup profits to private equity after backlash FIFA President Gianni Infantino has abandoned a controversial proposal to sell a stake in the organization’s World Cup-related profits to private investors after facing strong opposition from soccer officials around the world. Infantino announced Saturday that the plan would not move forward, saying the proposal had created divisions that no longer aligned with FIFA’s goal of uniting and improving the sport. The plan called for the creation of a $20 billion company that would oversee FIFA’s commercial operations, including revenue from the men’s and women’s World Cups and Club World Cups. The proposed venture would have included private investors, including a New York-based investment firm founded by Joshua Kushner, the younger brother of Jared Kushner.  ‎Bill for creation of the 6th South-East  state(ANIM) passes second reading in Senate

‎A bill seeking the creation of a new state in the South-East geopolitical zone of the country has passed its second reading in the Senate and is now under consideration by the Senate Committee on Constitutional Review.

‎Senator Osita Izunaso, representing Imo West, disclosed this development on Friday during a media parley in Abuja, where he marked his two-year milestone in the National Assembly.

‎He revealed that the proposed state, tentatively named ANIM State will be carved out from parts of Anambra and Imo States.He stated the creation of ANIM state is well deserved for South East 

‎"It’s not a favour, it’s a matter of equity, Every other region in the country has six states, except the South-East, which has only five. We’re not asking for too much,just for the balance Nigeria’s federal character demands,” 

‎The senator also said it would be unfair for anybody to protest against the proposed new state, warning that the South-East cannot continue to remain a minority in the regional standing of the country.

‎According to him, the creation of the proposed ANIM State will go through due constitutional process, including a referendum, and would not be impose.
